Advanced Radiation Therapy Unit Strengthens Mumbai Oncology Care
Dr L H Hiranandani Hospital in Powai, Mumbai, has expanded its cancer care and hospital operations with the launch of a second Advanced Radiation Therapy Unit in partnership with the International Oncology Cancer Institute, alongside the introduction of a Pneumatic Chute System aimed at improving the speed and coordination of critical medical services within the hospital.
Next-Generation Radiation Technology
The newly inaugurated Advanced Radiation Therapy Unit is powered by the Halcyon High-End Linear Accelerator, a next-generation radiation delivery system designed to provide high precision treatment while reducing treatment time and improving patient comfort. The technology is expected to support oncologists in delivering targeted radiation therapy with improved accuracy and enhanced safety standards.
The facility was inaugurated in the presence of renowned medical oncologist Dr. Padma Bhushan Advani, along with Dr. Niranjan Hiranandani, Chairman of Dr. L H Hiranandani Hospital; Dr. Sameer Kulkarni, CEO of the hospital; Dr. Pramod Sharma, COO of IOCI; and Vishal Mehta, Regional Director, West India, IOCI.
Automated Logistics Infrastructure
The hospital also launched a Pneumatic Chute System, an automated internal logistics solution designed to transport medical samples, medicines, blood products, and critical materials within the facility, reducing handling time and improving operational coordination across departments.

Within a short span of time from 2004 they have grown from a 130-bed hospital to a formidable 240-bed facility. Dr. LH Hiranandani instituted the healthcare unit Dr. LH Hiranandani hospital Powai, Mumbai, in 2004 and pioneered many advanced and surgical procedures, which were later known as "Dr. Hiranandani's Operations" worldwide.

Recent Hospital Infrastructure Advances
Less than a year ago, Dr L H Hiranandani Hospital partnered with RED.Health to introduce 5G-enabled ALS ambulances equipped with real-time patient monitoring, remote specialist consultation capabilities, and instant access to medical records during emergency transit. Before that, the hospital also installed a 384 Slice Cardiac CT scanner from Siemens Healthineers to enhance cardiac imaging accuracy and support AI-assisted diagnosis and treatment planning for cardiovascular patients.
