IMI Opens New Manufacturing & Engineering Facility at Hiranandani Industrial Park, Chennai

Global Valve Manufacturer IMI Establishes Chennai Hub

IMI has strengthened its manufacturing footprint in India with the inauguration of a new manufacturing and engineering facility in Chennai, consolidating its production, office and warehouse operations into a single integrated campus. Located at Hiranandani Industrial Park, the new facility commenced commercial operations in April 2026 and is gradually assuming manufacturing activities previously carried out at IMI's plant in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh.

Product Portfolio and Manufacturing Scope

The Chennai facility will manufacture IMI's CCI range of critical flow control products, including turbine bypass valves, control valves, desuperheaters and hydraulic supply units. These products are widely used in power generation, oil and gas, process industries and other critical infrastructure applications where precision, reliability and operational safety are essential. IMI CCI has led the industry since 1967, when it introduced DRAG® technology to solve cavitation, vibration and noise in severe service valves.

Operational Integration and Efficiency Gains

Designed to mirror the capabilities of the Sri City plant, the new facility incorporates advanced manufacturing, assembly and testing infrastructure while operating under IMI's globally recognised quality management systems. The integrated setup ensures consistent product quality, manufacturing excellence and compliance with international engineering standards.

In addition to manufacturing, the Chennai campus brings together the company's regional office and warehouse operations under one roof. The consolidation is expected to improve coordination across functions, optimise inventory management and enable faster response times for customers through enhanced logistics and technical support.

Strategic Significance for India Operations

The investment reinforces the company's long-term commitment to the Indian market while enhancing its ability to serve customers across the power, energy and industrial sectors. The Chennai project is part of IMI's wider global growth strategy, following recent manufacturing and engineering site expansions in the UK, Italy, the United States, and Brazil.
